Window Sill and Vinyl Fence Cleaning Before and After

A dirty window sill and a green vinyl fence do not look like much on their own. Together they decide whether a property looks cared for.

The window and sill

In the before photo, the window frame is white but the sill has a gray, gritty band of dirt and mildew along it, and the glass is dusty. In the after photo the frame and sill are clean and bright, and the glass is clear.

The vinyl fence

The before photo shows a vinyl privacy fence in a corner. The panels are streaked green and gray, and the growth is darkest low down along the base where the fence meets the grass. In the after photo the same kind of fence is a clean cream color with no streaks. The after photo was taken in brighter sunlight, so some of the difference is the lighting, but the streaks and the dark base are clearly gone.

Why the small stuff matters

• HOA rules. Many associations expect fences and trim to be kept clean, and mildew on a fence facing the street is what draws a letter.
• Vinyl can be washed back. The color is under the growth. In many cases a fence that looks ruined only needs cleaning, not replacing.
• Curb appeal. Sills, fences and trim are what people see when they walk up to the door. Clean details make everything around them look better maintained.
• Windows. Growth left on a sill and frame keeps moisture against the trim. Clean it early.
